Program Overview


Leadership Thurston County (LTC) is a program of the Thurston County Chamber Foundation, a 501(c)(3) educational non-profit organization. Since 1994, over 350 participants have completed the program.

 

LTC is operated under the direction of a Board of Regents and a program coordinator. It is tuition-based, with participant tuition covering less than half the cost of administering the program. The balance of the budget comes from individual and business contributions. Our program partners are Saint Martin’s University and Puget Sound Energy.

 

Program Objectives

  • Inform, educate and challenge participants about community opportunities and needs

  • Develop an esprit de corps among participants

  • Create a dialogue among participants and established community leaders

  • Help participants identify opportunities for community involvement

Desired Outcomes

Leadership Thurston County encourages participants to grow as leaders and demonstrate:

  • Trusteeship – A community-oriented attitude that extends beyond self-interest

  • Knowledge -  An understanding of selected issues relevant to Thurston County

  • Action – A willingness to become involved and seek leadership opportunities

Leadership Thurston County shall be nonpartisan, non-sectarian, and non-political. The words "non-political" and "nonpartisan" shall be construed to mean solely that the Leadership Thurston County program shall not engage in any activity favoring or opposing any issue, proposal or the election of any candidate for office, or political party, group or faction.(Excerpted from the bylaws adopted by the Board of Regents 6/22/92)
