Program Format

Leadership Thurston County is a ten-month, local leadership development program.

  • Each year’s class consists of 20-30 participants who come from a variety of occupations and backgrounds.

  • The program begins in September and ends in June. It includes opening and closing retreats, monthly day-long sessions called Challenge Days, and individual projects that are completed outside of class time.

  • The curriculum is carefully designed to reflect the interrelationships of issues and to develop knowledge of community leadership.

  • Topics are explored through speakers, discussion groups, panels, field visits and homework. Participants gain insight into how community decisions are made, who makes them and what influences these decisions.
