The Leadership Thurston County Board of Regents oversees the program and is composed of a select group of community leaders, including LTC graduates.

Joe Ingoglia, Chair
Chief Executive Officer
Boys & Girls Clubs of Thurston County

Joe Ingoglia, Boys & Girls Clubs of Thurston CountyJoe is the Chief Executive Officer of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Thurston County and has worked leading youth and educational programs for the last 20 years. He holds a B.S. degree in Elementary Education from the State University of New York at New Paltz and did graduate work in Human Service Studies at Cornell University. He has lived in Thurston County since 2006.

Joe believes in the ability of leaders from all walks of life to solve our community’s problems. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Olympia and the South Sound Partners in Philanthropy. He is married and has two daughters.

Harold D. Carr

Harold D. Carr, Law Offices of Harold D. CarrHarold D. Carr was admitted to the Washington State Bar in 1981. He is an Eagle member of the Washington State Association for Justice, a member of the Washington State Bar Association, American Trial Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association, Thurston County Bar Association, Pierce County Bar Association, and is admitted to the Federal District Court for Western Washington.

Harold is the Principal of the Law Offices of Harold D. Carr, P.S., a six-attorney law firm with four offices in Thurston and Pierce counties. Prior to establishing the business in 1989, he actively practiced in law firms in King County, Pierce County, and Thurston County. He obtained a Juris Doctor degree from University of Kansas School of Law in 1981 and his undergraduate B.S and graduate Master’s Degree from Kansas State University in 1977 and 1978, respectively. He has served as a mediator on the Alternative Dispute Resolution Panel and as an arbitrator on numerous UIM panels. Harold currently serves on the Board of Governors of the Washington State Bar Association.

Harold is actively involved in the community and has served as President of the Lacey Lamplighter Lions for three terms and as chairperson for several Lion's committees. He is also on the Board of Trustees for the Olympia Yacht Club. He is married to Dorrie Carr, who recently retired from her position as personal assistant to the Commander of Madigan Army Medical Center, Ft. Lewis. They have three daughters, one son and four grandchildren.

John Doan
City Administrator
City of Tumwater

ohn Doan, City of TumwaterJohn has been the City Administrator for the City of Tumwater since January 2010. He was with the City of Sumner from 1991 – 2010 where he served as the Community Development Director and City Administrator. Previously, he was a Senior Planner for the City of Seattle. He holds degrees in geological engineering and civil engineering from Washington State University and a Masters in not for profit leadership from Seattle University.

His professional interests include employee development, community engagement, generational change and building community. He has previously served on the boards of community theater, economic development, an education foundation, a chamber of commerce and a capacity building organization. He is a member of the Tumwater Rotary. He is passionate about his family, job, a good book, a road trip, great buildings, and good food and wine.

Nancy Faaren

Nancy Faaren, Olympia School DistrictNancy grew up in Olympia and graduated from Olympia High School. She received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Pacific Lutheran University. She has spent most of her career in the Southwest Washington area where she was a school administrator for over 24 years. She returned to Olympia as the principal at Capital High School and assumed the position of Assistant Superintendent for the Olympia School District in June 2010.

She is passionate about learning for both kids and adults. Nancy is excited about the unique ability of Leadership Thurston County to do two important things: 1) support people as they develop their leadership skills, and 2) help people learn how their work becomes more meaningful when they have a bigger understanding of their community. She is involved in West Olympia Rotary, Washington Association of School Administrators, and The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. Nancy is married to John Rosenberg, and they have two daughters.

Wes Martin

Wes Martin, Sound Business BrokersWes has spent the last 20 years involved in a variety of his family-owned businesses, ranging from a medium sized HVAC business, franchised deli shops, gas stations and full-service restaurants. During his tenure within the management of these businesses, Wes has been involved personally in multiple purchases and the eventual sale of several of his own businesses.

Combining his personal history and extensive transactional experience during the last five years in the business brokerage practice gives Wes a ground level perspective to his clients’ needs. Wes' approach to his client relationships revolves around assisting them with their goals in an honest, professional, and confidential manner. Trade relationships include membership in the International Business Brokers Association (IBBA), and the Thurston County Chamber of Commerce.

Todd Monohon, Board ChairTodd is the owner of Olympic Rental & Landlord Services, which provides property management and maintenance services throughout Thurston County, and Olympic Leadership Services, a leadership consulting business providing stategic planning, fundraising and leadership coaching in Washington State. He has a passion for leadership and building things, including new business endeavors. For the last 20 years, he has taught and consulted in the area of leadership development and non-profit fundraising with non-profit organizations and small businesses while heavily investing in real estate in our community.

Born and raised in Pacfic County,Todd came to Olympia in 1988 as principal of St. Michael’s School and helped to found the SMART Auction. He has a BA in Public Administration from Seattle University and an MA in Educational Leadership from the University of Washington. He believes people can make a difference and has been involved in St. Michael’s Church, the American Red Cross (past Board Chair), Saint Martin’s Univeristy, Lewis County flood relief efforts, AADO (a local behind the scenes arts organization) and the Hawks Prairie Rotary, where he was founding member and the eventual chairman of the International Services Committe and the founder of the club’s International Youth Exchange program. He is currently the President of the south sound area chapter of the National Association of Residential Property Managers.

Stephanie is a 2008 LTC grad. She is the Associate Development Advisor at the Lucky Eagle Casino, where she has worked since 2006. A Chehalis Tribal member, she was employed by the Chehalis Tribal Wellness Center from 2001-2006. She has also worked at the Red Wind and Emerald Queen casinos.

Stephanie is passionate about advocating for education and health care. She has served on the Oakville School Board, on various tribal committees, and the Lucky Eagle Associate of the Month/Year committee. She served as the elected Treasurer of the Chehalis Tribal Government from 2004-2006 and is nearing the end of her current 2 year term as Treasurer for the Tribal Government. As a graduate of Leadership Thurston County, she believes in its mission to promote community involvement. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and travelling with her family.

Kari L. Qvigstad

Kari L. Qvigstad, Qvigstad & Associates, Inc.Kari launched Qvigstad & Associates in 2011, a consulting firm that specializes in strategy development and technical assistance to organizations seeking to expand commerce and increase global competiveness. She previously served on the Port of Olympia’s executive team, joining the Port in 1996 as Marketing & Business Development Director. During her tenure, she led strategic sales initiatives, directed Port marketing, communications and community outreach programs, established and administered Foreign-Trade Zone activities in a four-county region, and directed Port real estate portfolio management, property acquisitions and dispositions, and contract negotiations.

Kari began her career in the seafood industry moving to senior management positions at several logistics firms in the Pacific Northwest, including Kamigumi U.S.A., Mountain Cold Storage, Tacoma Cold Storage, and as an international trade and logistics consultant. Kari has served on boards of a number of local, regional and national associations and has participated in speaking engagements around the world. She is a current board member of the Olympia Downtown Association where she serves as chair of the Economic Development Committee. She holds two degrees from the University of Washington, studied at two universities in Japan and is fluent in Japanese and Norwegian. Kari is married and has two children.

Jason Robertson

Jason is President of J Robertson and Company, a community and economic development consulting firm based in Olympia. His projects have been recognized by the International Association for Public Participation (Project of the Year), League of Oregon Cities (Good Governance), National Association of State Development Agencies (Quality Research Award), Puget Sound Regional Council (Vision 2020 Award), USDA Forest Service (Action Project of the Year), Governor Chris Gregoire (Outstanding Achievement for Creating Vibrant, Smart Communities) and City and County Communications Association (National Savvy Award for Community Visioning).

Locally, Jason has worked with a variety of organizations, including the cities of Olympia, Lacey, Tumwater and Yelm, LOTT, TCTV, the Port of Olympia, Providence St. Peter Hospital, Morningside, Thurston EDC and multiple state agencies. He participated in Leadership Thurston County as a new resident in 2001 and has served on the LTC Board of Regents since 2002.

Jason earned his Master’s Degree in Community and Regional Planning as a University of Oregon Peace Corps Fellow and has undergraduate degrees in International Relations, Spanish and Latin American Studies. He lives in north Thurston County, near good sea-kayak launch sites with the loves of his life, wife Julie, daughters Ava and Laurel, and golden retriever Beau Dog.

David Schaffert, Thurston County ChamberDavid was hired as the President and CEO of the Thurston County Chamber in 1998. Since that time, the Chamber membership has grown from 625 to nearly 1,200 members, making it one of the largest chambers in the state. The combined annual chamber budget is over $1.2 million annually. He is passionate about developing well informed, rising leaders.

David came to the Thurston County Chamber in 1991 as the Governmental Relations Director. Previously, he was a contract lobbyist and worked on higher education, long-term care and insurance issues. From 1994 to 1998, he served as Government Relations Director for the Olympia Master Builders and started Master Builders Chapters in Lewis, Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties.

David serves on the boards of the Association of Washington Business and Washington Association of Small Business Incubators, and is the Past President of the Washington State Chamber of Commerce Executives (WCCE). He received his BA from Central Washington University and is a graduate of the Institute for Organization Management (OIM). He is an avid woodworker and outdoorsmen and especially enjoys blue water fly-fishing.

Aaron Steele

Aaron Steele, Business Banking ManagerAs a commercial lender for First Citizens Bank, Aaron helps business owners and investors secure financing to expand their businesses. Prior to joining First Citizens, Aaron worked at Venture Bank and spent 10 years as a Financial Advisor in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Aaron was born in Olympia and grew up in Denver. He graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He is active with the West Olympia Rotary and serves as the club’s Services Director. He is a 2008 graduate of Leadership Thurston County and has served on various committees for organizations throughout the community. Aaron and his wife, Holly, have two sons, Tate and Thomas. He is actively involved in youth sports, coaching his sons in football and baseball.

Renée Sunde

Thurston Economic Development Council

Renée Sunde, Thurston Economic Development CouncilRenée is an LTC Board Member and 2006 LTC grad. She serves as the Deputy Director for the Thurston Economic Development Council. Through her role at the EDC, she is responsible for partnering with both public and private partners to recruit, retain and expand opportunities for business investment throughout Thurston County. As Deputy Director, Renée provides project management and business development oversight.

Prior to joining the EDC, she worked for a South Puget Sound development firm, acting as administrator in charge of development contracts and the creation and delivery of business proposals. In addition, Renée was employed for seven years in the marketing department of a regional bank managing the internal sales development program and providing corporate training. She attended Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington where she studied Business Management.

Renée currently serves as a business representative for the Thurston Regional Planning Council, Transportation Policy Board. In addition, she serves on the boards of Leadership Thurston County, the South Sound Council and Salvation Army. Renée is an active member of the Olympia Rotary Club.
